Lynda Carter
Carter was born in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of Juanita (nee Cordova) and Colby Carter.Her father is of English and Scots-Irish heritage, and her mother was born in Mexico she is of Mexican, Spanish, and French descent. Carter has one brother named Vincent and a sister, Pamela. Carter, age 5, made her public television debut at Lew King's Talent Show. During high school, Carter played in a group known as Just Us. The band played a marimba, a conga drum, an acoustic guitar, and a stand-up basses that was played by another girl from the group. At the age of 15 Lynda started singing in the local pizza joint to earn extra money. When she was 16, Lynda was a member of two cousins in forming another bandcalled The Relatives. Gary Burghoff, actor, was the drummer of the band. The band first performed in Las Vegas at the Sahara Hotel and Casino Lounge. Carter was 21 years old when she first entered the kitchen. After being called "Most Talented" and deciding to leave school and pursue a career as a musician. Carter auditioned for The Garfin Gathering in 1970. She went on tour together with Howard (Speedy), Garfin. Their first show together took place at the Holiday Inn Chinatown in San Francisco, which was so brand-new that it did not have a sidewalk entry. The band played mostly to hotel staff as well as guests who parked their automobiles in the underground garage. The Garfin Gathering performed shows throughout the Nevada "Silver Circuit" which included in a number of Nevada's casino lounges. Carter was able to quit the Garfin Gathering in 1972 to pursue acting, and then went back to Arizona.
