Fawn Mckay

Fawn McKay was born on 15 September 1915 in Ogden, Utah. Fawn McKay, brought up in the Mormon Church's First Family, employed her creative talents and expertise in research to write the intriguing biographical psycho-historical study of Joseph Smith. Published in 1945 under the title No Man Knows My History, she used both. That title was taken from a funeral speech delivered by the founding father of the Church of Latter-Day Saints in 1844 when he startled the congregation with his words"You don't even know me." and you've never known my heart. My history is not known to anyone. No one knows my history. Fawn has written the 29-year-old Fawn. Since then the three authors have taken on the challenge. Certain writers have deified and even abused the man, and others have tried to pinpoint the problem. The problem isn't that there aren't enough documents but rather they are wildly divergent. Compiling these documents - - by sifting through third-party and first-hand sources and fitting the Mormons' stories to those of other people's time-line - is a thorny task. This is exciting as well as instructive. Fawn Brodie's professional life was devoted to this aim. Thaddeus Steves became a global fame due to her research and her work. The Devil Drives (1959) Scourge of the South Thomas Jefferson. An Intimate History (1974) and posthumously Richard Nixon.
